TUCSON (KGUN9-TV) - Tucson Police say a skateboarder is in critical, but stable condition after being hit by a car on the west side around 5:15p.m. Sunday.
Sgt. Pete Dugan said the man was crossing Speedway between Silverbell and Camino Santiago when he was hit by a car going westbound on Speedway.
It does not appear the skateboarder was using a crosswalk, according to Dugan.
Dugan said the driver stayed on scene and it appears he was going the speed limit at the time of the accident. The driver said he did not see the skateboarder until it was too late and attempted to swerve around him.
Speedway will be closed in both directions for a few hours.
