Drivers on the Westside can expect major delays this week on Silverbell Road from Goret to Grant road.
Crews will begin the final phase of the Silverbell Road widening project that began in July of last year. The traffic nightmare begins Monday and will go on until next week, with delays of up to an hour for people who live off of Silverbell, with houses on surface streets to the east or west of the road.
This is the last big push to finish Silverbell, between Grant and Goret. Silverbell is being improved before the year ends because of the closure and reconstruction of the Ina interchange at I-10, which starts next year.
During the paving work, side street access will be temporarily closed for short periods of time. Left turns will also be temporarily prohibited and flaggers will be on site to assist with traffic control.
Drivers who use Silverbell should plan accordingly to account for delays, which can be anywhere between 20 to 50 minutes.
The completion of paving work is scheduled for November 2nd.
