SIERRA VISTA, Ariz. — A Sierra Vista woman is racing across the country for the Multiple sclerosis Community.

Meghan Guler is competing in the MS Run the U.S. It's a 3,260 mile relay run from California to New York, and she will be running 160 miles in 6 days.

She is dedicated to raising awareness and funds to support multiple sclerosis (MS) research, while also aiding those living with disability due to MS, including her aunt.

She is one of 19 runners who are running to raise money for research and resources that go back into the MS community. She has raised an incredible $60,000 for the cause this year alone.

Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a progressive, immune-mediated disorder. That means the system designed to keep your body healthy mistakenly attacks parts of your body that are vital to everyday function.

There are four types of multiple sclerosis, Relapsing-Remitting MS (RRMS), Secondary-Progressive MS (SPMS), Primary-Progressive MS (PPMS) and Progressive-Relapsing MS (PRMS).

"Just because someone present like they're doing well and physically they seem fine does not necessarily mean that they feel fine," Guler said. "Chronic pain, fatigue, that's taxing. A lot of people lose a lot of different aspects of there life because of this disease, and I don't want that to go kind of missed."

Nearly 1 million people are living with MS in the United States, according to a study funded by the National MS Society.

There is currently no cure, but the hope with continued awareness, Meghan hopes they can find a cure.
