SIERRA VISTA, Ariz. (KGUN9-TV) - Acting Sierra Vista Police Chief Adam Thrasher has been hired to take on that role permanently.

Adam Curtis, Management Support Specialist with the City of Sierra Vista says that Thrasher has worked for the Sierra Vista Police Department 19 years.

Thrasher worked his way up the ranks after becoming a police officer with the department in 1996, said Curtis.

He spent about five years as a lieutenant and six years as a commander before becoming deputy chief in 2014.

“It’s thrilling to be in a position to make a meaningful impact in the community where I grew up and to take command of a department that helped me become who I am today,” Thrasher says. “I’m really grateful for this opportunity. It’s a pleasure to lead such a dedicated and passionate group of people.”

Thrasher was named acting police chief on Oct. 1 of this year, following the retirement of former chief Tom Alinen, who ended a 37-year career with the department.
