CASA GRANDE, Ariz. (AP) - Police in Casa Grande say they're investigating the death of a shoplifting suspect in his detention cell.
They say an 18-year-old man was arrested Saturday at a Walmart after store security identified him using a receipt found in the parking lot to return an item for cash.
The man was transported to the police department, interviewed and placed in a cell awaiting transport to the Pinal County Adult Detention Center for booking.
When officers entered the man's detention cell, he was found unresponsive and later declared dead.
The county Sheriff's Office is investigating the death of the man, whose name hasn't been released.
