TUCSON, Ariz. — President Donald Trump and Vice President Mike Pence met with local sheriffs Monday including, Pima County Sheriff Mark Napier.
According to White House officials, they discussed how immigration affects their areas of jurisdiction. This meeting involved the letter sent by National Sheriffs' Association (NSA) to Congress about Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) releasing detainees. There is a potential of over 8,000 criminal detainees to be released back onto the streets.
Trump held the meeting in the Diplomatic Reception room of the White House before leaving for El Paso.
Sheriff Mark Napier was elected to be Sheriff and sworn in back in 2016.
