TPD are investigating an elderly woman fatally hit by car on east side

TUCSON, Ariz. — TUCSON, Ariz. - Tucson Police are investigating a pedestrian collision that happened on Thursday afternoon.

The collision happened around 2:15 p.m. on the eastside near East Speedway Boulevard and North Wilmot Road.

Tucson Fire was called to scene and took the woman pedestrian to Banner University Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. The woman later died at the hospital.

The woman was identified as 86-year-old Gladys Blackmarr.

Detectives with the Tucson Police Traffic Investigations Unit later arrived on scene to investigate the incident.

Officials determined Ms. Blackmarr was walking southbound across Speedway Boulevard in a marked crosswalk on the east side of the intersection.

The driver of a Ford F-250 pick-up truck was turning left from southbound Wilmot Road to eastbound Speedway Boulevard when the driver hit Blackmarr.

The driver stayed on scene and cooperated with the investigation.

Detectives and Officers determined the driver was not impaired during the incident and speed didn't appear to be a factor.

There have been no arrests or citations issued. The investigation is still on going.
