Series of thefts from vehicles being investigated in Marana

Marana Police Department is investigating a series of larcenies from vehicles near the Gladden Farms community.

Police say on Sunday, Aug. 5, the department received several calls from residents say their cars had been rummaged through. Nearly all of the vehicles involved were left unlocked overnight.

Stolen items include a GoPro video recorder, wallets, purses, cash, garage door openers, and more.

Police arrested two men on Thursday, Aug. 9, who were caught in the act while taking things from cars. The men have been identified as 22-year-old Shane Mack and 20-year-old Ricardo Beltran.

They were booked into the Pima County Adult Detention Center on felony burglary-related charges.

Police again received several calls the morning of Sunday, Aug. 12, from residents saying things had been taken from their cars overnight. Again, nearly all of the vehicles involved were left unlocked overnight.

Officers urge residents to remain vigilant and secure their cars at all times. It is also a good idea to remove valuable items from your car before you leave it.
