Senator John McCain had surgery at the Mayo Clinic in Phoenix on Sunday to treat an intestinal infection related to diverticulitis.
He is in stable condition.
The office of Sen. John McCain released a statement saying:
“Senator McCain and his family are grateful to the senator’s excellent care team, and appreciate the support and prayers they continue to receive from people all over the country.”
Sen. McCain has spent the past few months at his home in Cornville, Arizona participating in physical therapy as he recovers from cancer treatment side effects.
"He has remained engaged in his work as Chairman of the Senate Armed Services Committee, and has enjoyed frequent visits from his family, friends, staff and Senate colleagues," his office said in a media release.
