Forest Service officials are asking hikers and visitors to avoid the Rustler Park area in the Chirichahua Mountains for the time being.
Officials say a search and recovering effort is taking place and temporary closures may be implemented.
"Coronado National Forest is in a supportive role to Cochise County Sheriff's Office to ensure county officials and private individuals have a safe environment in which to conduct the search," Forest Service Public Affairs Officer Heidi Schewel said in a media release.
