SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (AP) - Scottsdale police say a teenage boy has been arrested on suspicion of providing drugs containing fentanyl to a classmate who later overdosed.

Authorities confirmed Monday that a 16-year-old student at Notre Dame Prep was arrested for possession of narcotic drugs.

He has since been released pending further evidence testing.

Police responded to a Scottsdale home on Feb. 6 where a 17-year-old boy showed signs of an opioid overdose. He is expected to fully recover.

Investigators learned he got a pill from the suspect.

A search of the suspect's car found seven pills and drug paraphernalia. A search warrant on his home turned up two more pills.

Police say all the pills were found to be counterfeit prescription narcotics with fentanyl.

So far, it appears no other students obtained pills.
