The board for a Phoenix area charter school has decided to award performance pay to a group of former teachers, reversing its earlier decision to withhold the money.

Former Heritage Elementary school teacher Sarah Jennings tells The Arizona Republic that the board's decision on Tuesday shows that officials knew that what they were doing was not right.

The teachers sent a letter to Principal Justin Dye on Friday arguing that they are still owed between $1,500 and $1,800 each.

The teachers received the first half of their merit pay, but the school board decided in June that teachers who have left the Glendale school should not receive the second installment.
