If you live alone, you may find yourself frustrated with the amount of food you end up wasting.

Here are some ways to cut your food costs and waste, brought to you by Good Morning Tucson anchor Samantha Cortese, who cites research from the Academy of Nutrition and Dietics.

1. Buy frozen fruits and vegetables -- That way, you can take out the portions you need and buy the staples in bulk without having to worry about spoilage.

2. Look for foods in single servings -- Juice, yogurt, frozen meals, soup and pudding are easy to find.

3. Shop from bulk bins -- You can spot food in smaller amounts, reducing food waste.

4. Talk to butchers and produce managers -- Ask for smaller, prepackaged items.

5. Buy produce that lasts longer in the refrigerator -- Broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cabbage and carrots all have great refrigerated shelf life.

6. Buy small loaves of bread -- Also, wrap and freeze portions of bread you won't use right away.
