TUCSON, Ariz. — The Salvation Army hosted their own back to school event Saturday.
Unlike other back to school events this one focused on clothing, as well as supplies.
Nearly 125 kids from kindergarten to 12th grade got to go on a shopping spree at JCPenny in El Con Mall.
Ellen Oh with Salvation Army says "In the community there are many kids who's not fortunate enough to shop the back to school supplies, especially the clothing and shoes. So this will hugely increase each kids as they go back with the new items, new shoes, and new clothes like other kids have a privilege to do."
Kids in need were also given a new backpack filled with supplies.
Tucson Unified School District goes back to school this coming week on August 1.
