TUCSON, Ariz. — Crews are battling a large fire just south of Tucson at a salvage yard that's sending plumes of smoke into the sky, visible to many across the city.

According to the Pima County Sheriff's Department, the fire is on the 4800 block of East Wyoming Street, just south of Davis-Monthan Air Force Base. A Rural Metro Fire Department spokesperson says scrap metal and brush were burning in the 100-foot by 100-foot fire, but they haven't officially determined the cause.

Crews from the base are assisting the Rural Metro Fire Department in battling the blaze.

Rural Metro Fire says the fire is contained and no people or structures are in danger.
