The Pima Council on Aging is saluting Tucsonans who've lived through an entire century.

The non-profit says there are at least 240 men and women in Pima County who've seen two world wars, a great depression, the fall of the Soviet Union and 15 U.S presidents.

On May 4, the council is saluting 45 locals soon to hit the century mark.

There are 145 centenarians living in the Tucson area this year and an estimated 72,000 centenarians in the U.S., according to the Census Bureau.
