Sahuarita Unified adding brain scans as part of concussion management

Sahuarita Unified School District is the first school district in Arizona to add portable EEGs as part of the district's concussion management protocol.

The school district piloted the system Thursday at Walden Grove High School with staff and students demonstrating the technology.

The brain scan technology measures brain voltage and reaction time.

In a press release, the school district says it will be using the portable EEGs to establish objective baselines of student-athletes and will use this technology to help determine return-to-play after an incident occurs.
