TUCSON, Ariz. — The Sahuarita Police Department is warning of scam going around, that involves a phone call impersonating an SPD Officer.

This week, the department received two reports of the scam.

The department says, the scammer, who is posing as an officer, requests Social Security Numbers and other personal information.

The Sahuarita Police Department says it would not ask for this type of information, and it is normal procedure to interview people in person unless they are making a report from outside SPD's jurisdiction.

The department does not call people for warrants or if you owe money to the courts.

If you get this call, hang up and call local law enforcement with the phone number and any information that may help police investigate the person(s) responsible.
