TUCSON, Ariz. — The Tucson Police Department has been working to train the public on how to handle active shooter situations.

The first of two August training sessions was held Thursday night. They were set up in the wake of three mass shootings across the country, just within the last month.

Typically, the department holds the training four times a year.

The two-hour training goes over strategies to run, hide, or fight. TPD also explains the definition and characteristics of an active shooter.

Another training session is being held next Thursday, Aug. 29, but it is sold out. TPD says another one will be held in November.
