Roadwork on Houghton Road, just south of the I-10 is continuing this week as crews work to install new left turn lanes at three different intersections along Houghton.
Those three intersections include Andrada Road, Brekke Road, and Dawn Road.
The road work began in May, and since then crews have been working to pave the northbound shoulder to accommodate the new left turn lanes.
Pima County Department of Transportation decided to take on the project after noticing the immense backup building from people trying to make turns going west. The department decided to begin the Houghton Road Improvements Project during the summer to ease traffic, especially since the stretch of road is near the Pima County Fair and the Andrada Polytechnic High School.
The speed limit in the area on Houghton just south of the I-10 and north of Sahuarita has been reduced for safety reasons.
Crews expect the work to be complete early August.
