Students in Sunnyside Unified School District will not have class on Friday because of expected heavy traffic at the intersection of Park Ave. and Drexel Rd.
According to a Pima County media release, the county and its contractor have chosen to designate August 25 as an in-service day for Sunnyside School District to complete a phase of the Park Avenue Sewer Augmentation Project and lessen the traffic impacts on other travelers.
"The contractor will place the final thermal stripping through the Park Ave. and Drexel Rd. intersection and along Drexel Rd. from 1st Ave. to Park Ave," according to a Pima County media release.
Crews will be working on the project from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday, and there will be detours that shift traffic around equipment in the area.
