Rio Rico firefighters responded to a swift water rescue Tuesday night at about 9:15.
A vehicle with one person was stuck in a flooded wash on Pendleton Drive near Avenida Coatmundi.
According to authorities, the driver tried to "drive his SUV through the raging, storm caused waters, and became lodged in the mud and debris."
The road had been closed with barricades and the motorist drove around them.
Firefighters were able to wade into the wash and provide the driver with a floatation device and lead him to safety.
