Craig Morgan of Phoenix radio station Arizona Sports 98.7-FM is reporting that Tucson will likely be the new home to the Arizona Coyotes American Hockey League affiliate team.

Morgan reports that two sources familiar with the talks say that city officials have had multiple meetings with the Coyotes about the AHL team playing their games at the Tucson Convention Center starting in the 2016-2017 season.

“What I can tell you is we have looked at what it would take to renovate the facility,” Ortega said in the report. “There were some discussions on what it would take to potentially recruit or respond to a request from a potential pro sports team."

Two years ago the TCC completed $8 million in renovations.

The Coyotes signed a three year affiliation deal with the Springfield Falcons in August 2015.
