Some southern Arizonans are already lending support to the Hurricane Florence relief effort before the storm has even hit land.
According to a statement from the Red Cross, 52 volunteers from the Arizona, New Mexico and El Paso region are already helping preparation efforts in the Carolinas, where hurricane damage is expected to be the worst. Nineteen of those are from southern Arizona.
The storm has already triggered mandatory evacuation orders for large swaths of the East Coast, especially in South Carolina, North Carolina and Virginia. Florence is expected to hit the coast as a category 4 storm.
