With summer underway, you may be looking for someone to take care of your four-legged friends while you're on vacation.
Nine On Your Side looked into a couple of doggie day care centers where you can send your pets.
Tucson Adventure Dog Ranch:
"We prefer to operate as more of a bed and breakfast for dogs," said owner Thom McKinney.
The licensed and certified company operates cage free -- unlike regular kennels.
"Fenced in hiking acreage, a swimming pool and an agility playground and all the dogs sleep in the house in the evenings with us on nice dog beds."
Thom McKinney and his wife Connie have been running the dog ranch in Sahuarita for about 10 years.
"I spend my day with the dogs. "So it's a very supervised active day. Dogs, if you give them adequate resources, plenty of space, a lot of structure and leadership they thrive. So they get along great and it's even more harmonious than a dog park. There's one person in charge and a lot of structured activity. We walk as a pack."
Owners can even keep an eye on their pups while they're away.
"I take photos all day and in the evening I edit that down to a photo album and email it to the clients so they get to see this chronology of the day from the beginning to the end. The dogs sleeping in their beds at night so it's a nice way to stay in touch with the dogs while they're away so they don't miss them and they have a more enjoyable vacation. They'll see several hundred pictures a day, every night."
And your dog will stay active entertained all day long.
"We have a bag of tennis balls that gets thrown and bounces and the dogs swim and dive and jump in the pool. It's quite an entertaining afternoon."
With an average of 15 to 20 dogs boarded at a time -- even the most timid dogs can make some friends.
"If they are shy, this kind of brings them out of their shell. With the amount of structure that it's not a small environment. We're moving forward, we're moving around so they kind of start relaxing and just revert to being a regular dog."
Tucson Adventure Dog Ranch has a 50-dollar- flat rate fee each day. For more information, click here.
Camp Bow Wow:
An all-inclusive day care to pamper your pup.
"We're a social, daycare and boarding facility," said trainer Lia Ostazeski. "But we also have training and grooming as well. We do transportation as well. We've set a standard from most of the daycare and boarding facilities as having premier services and we cater to make sure the dog is having a great time."
Camp Bow Wow on North Oracle Road is one of the more than 100 locations throughout the country. Their Tucson locations serves most of Southern Arizona.
In a camp-style setting the campers sleep in so-called cabins and teacup condos.
"We provide the cots to get the dogs up off the ground. Every boarding dog is given what we refer to as a boarding card. It identifies them and tells us their inventory and their likes."
With multiple play areas the dogs are grouped together by size and temperament.
"There's always motion going on, and they get to find their Fido friend that they like to play with on a regular basis."
Pets can also get a good grooming while you're away.
"Besides a fun place for the dog it's a great place for the workers too. It's just really an amazing opportunity for the dogs to be able to come and be a dog and have a great time."
With the Camp Bow Wow app you can keep an eye on your pup all day long.
"If I know that my sister is boarding her dogs in North Carolina I can go ahead and watch her dogs too."
Each camper must go through an interview process to make sure they're compatible with other dogs. Overnight stays at Camp Bow Wow start at $35 per night. Additional discounts are offered for multiple dogs and extended stays over 11 nights. For more information, click here.
