Public meetings to discuss increasing tobacco legal age in Pima County

TUCSON, Ariz. — The Pima County Health Department is hosting several forums over the next two weeks to talk about possible changes to the county tobacco ordinance.

The proposal would mean raising the minimum legal age to buy tobacco products from 18 to 21-years-old.

There will also be a discussion on amending the current smoking ordinance to include electronic nicotine devices, and create a retail permit system for tobacco retailers in unincorporated Pima County.

There was a meeting on Monday at the Oro Valley Public Library.

Feb. 28: Quincie Douglas Library from 1 to 2 pm

Feb. 28: Joyner-Green Valley Library from 5 to 6 pm

March 1: Dewhirst-Catalina Library from 3 to 4 pm

March 4: Abrams Public Health Center from 6 to 7 pm
