TUCSON, Ariz. — A 15-year-old girl who was hit by a truck while skateboarding in midtown Tucson early Wednesday morning has died.

Tucson Police say it happened at around 4:30 a.m. near 5th Street and Swan Road. A large truck hit the skateboarder, who police initially were not able to identify. She was later identified as a 15-year-old girl.

First responders rushed her to the hospital right after the crash with life threatening injuries. Police say the girl died Thursday afternoon.

The driver of the truck immediately stayed on scene after the crash and cooperated with police. A DUI officer came to the scene and determined the driver of the pickup truck was not impaired at the time of the crash.

She was riding the skateboard in the pictures above when she was hit.
