Arrest made in shooting near Park Place Mall

An arrest has been made in connection with the shooting incident near Park Place Mall.

The shooter has been identified as 19-year-old Robert Steven Balderrama according to Sgt. Pete Dugan, spokesperson with the Tucson Police Department.

Balderrama surrendered to police after learning that his photograph has been posted on the news and social media.

Balderrama has been booked into the Pima County Jail on one count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and one count of aggravated assault with physical injury.

One person had non life-threatening injuries from the shooting.

Sgt. Dugan says officers arrived on the scene in the 5900 block of East Broadway, in the Peter Piper Pizza parking lot.

The shooting was a road rage incident between a driver and a pedestrian. The driver was shot as a result of the altercation.

When police arrived both the pedestrian and driver were not at the scene. The driver was transported to the hospital and has non life-threatening injuries.
