Nogales Police have confirmed that Officer Jesus Cordova was killed during an officer-involved shooting Friday.

According to Officer Mesta with Nogales PD, officers responded to an armed carjacking incident in the 2900 block of N. Grand Avenue around 2:41 p.m.

Cordova located the vehicle driving away and a traffic stop was initiated.

The suspect then exited the vehicle and shot at Cordova. The suspect then stole another vehicle in the area and left. Police say he then stole a third vehicle moments later in the area of N. Frank Reed Road.

Police later located the suspect at a trailer park and took him into custody.

The suspect has been identified as 28-year-old David Ernesto Murillo.

A GoFundMe page has been started to support Cordova's family as they work through this tragedy.
