Victim shot and killed near 29th Street and Columbus identified, suspect arrested

TUCSON, Ariz. (KGUN) — Tucson police have made an arrest after a man was killed Wednesday after being shot near 29th St. and Columbus Blvd.

After further investigation, the shooting suspect is identified as 15- year-old Terrayne Newsome.

On July 9, officers located Newsome at a residence in the 700 block of W. Lightstar Circle, where he was taken into custody, according to TPD. Newsome was booked Pima County Jail on a first-degree murder warrant that was obtained July 8.

On July 7, officers responded to the area of 29th St. and Columbus for a report about a shooting victim.

Tucson police say the man died after being taken to the hospital.

The man was identified as 18-year-old Felix Alexandrew Pichardo.

According to TPD, the shooting victim call came in around 12:30 p.m. from an apartment complex located at 4250 E. 29th St.

After conducting interviews, investigators learned that Pichardo was involved in an altercation with people that he knew. When the confrontation escalated, he was then shot.
