Tucson Police have arrested a man, accused of attempting to kidnap a child at an apartment complex in midtown on Sunday.

Investigators say through forensic evidence, they identified 29-year-old Alonso Rodriquez as the suspect. Monday at 2:20 a.m., police found him in a parking lot near E. Presidio Rd. and N. Alvernon Way. He was arrested without incident and booked into the Pima County Jail.

On Sunday, officers responded to the apartment at 2455 N. Dodge Blvd. around 6:30 a.m.. They learned that a nine-year-old girl was sleeping in her bed when Rodriquez allegedly opened her bedroom window.

Police say the suspect tried to coerce the girl out of her room to go with him. A family member heard the commotion, came into the room and started screaming to alert other family members.

The suspect then ran away.

Rodriquez is booked on attempted kidnapping and 2nd degree burglary charges.
