Man fatally stabs sister in midtown home

TUCSON, Ariz. — Tucson Police Department is investigating a homicide that happened Sunday night at a midtown home.

Police say officers were called to the area of 2400 block of S. Holly Strav. for a call about a domestic violence incident.

Upon arrival officer found 41-year-old Ismael Ortega inside the home and was detained.

Officers found Ismael Ortega's sister 43-year-old Mirna Ortega outside in the backyard with obvious signs of sharp force trauma.

Police say Mirna Ortega was unresponsive and officers began giving her CPR unitl Tucson Fire arrvied to give medical treatment.

Mirna Ortega was taken to Banner University Medical Center with life-threatening injuries, she later died at the hospital.

After detectives spoke with Ismael Ortega, and the family, Ismael Ortega was arrested and booked into Pima County Jail on one count of first-degree murder.

Detectives are still investigating the incident.
