TUCSON, Ariz. — Tucson police shut down Wilmot near Broadway Wednesday morning due to a deadly wreck at Wilmot and 19th Street.
Police say the crash involved two vehicles. The driver of one of the vehicles was found dead at the scene. He was identified as 28-year-old Fedyst Fomeche.
The other driver, who police identified Thursday as 26-year-old Jeremy Jay Sims, initially left the scene, but police were able to locate him at his home.
According to interviews, detectives learned that Fomeche was traveling southbound on Wilmot when he was rear-ended by Sims' vehicle.
"Interviews in conjunction with roadway evidence determined that excessive speed and impairment appear to be factors in the collision," TPD said.
Sims has been charged with 2nd-degree murder.
