TUCSON, Ariz. — Tucson Police Department is investigating a deadly crash involving a vehicle and pedestrian that happened Friday.
Officer were called to the area of East Broadway Boulevard and North Campbell Avenue around 2:30 a.m. for a report about a serious-injury crash.
Upon arrival Tucson Fire was rendering aid to a pedestrian woman.
Police say the woman was transported to Banner University Medical Center with life-threatening injuries, where she later died.
Police identified the woman as 25-year-old Cassandra A. Molina.
Detectives determined Molina was walking eastbound on Broadway crossing Campbell.
Police say Molina was seen walking through the crosswalk on the northside of the intersection where she crossed Campbell on a red light while talking on her cellphone.
Police say while Molina crossed a 2009 GMC SUV was traveling northbound in the curb lane on Campbell. The GMC SUV was traveling through the intersection on a green light when the SUV hit Molina.
The driver of the SUV did stay on scene.
Detectives determined the driver was not impaired at the time and speed does not appear to be factor in the crash.
The investigation is on-going.
No charges or citations have been issued at this time.
