Police have identified 57-year-old Jerome Vincent Smith as the man killed in a pedestrian collision on Wednesday night.
On July 12, officers responded to the 6600 block of East Broadway Boulevard for a report of a serious injury collision involving a pedestrian.
When officers arrived on the scene, first responders located a man in the roadway with obvious signs of trauma. He died on scene as a result of his injuries.
Detectives determined a Silver 2006 Hyundai Elantra was westbound on E. Broadway Boulevard in the median lane. Moments after the vehicle passed N. Jessica Avenue, the pedestrian involved stepped off the center median and into westbound traffic.
The driver of the Elantra attempted to stop but was unable to do so.
Smith was not in a crosswalk when he entered the roadway.
The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. No citations have been issued at this time.
