The Pima County Board of Supervisors voted 3 -2 to acquire more than 3,200 acres of land for future conservation.

The Tesoro Nueve Ranch is located in the Catalina Mountains. The park will be designated as part of the county parks system and includes streams and springs home to threatened fish, frogs and other wildlife.

The property was part of the estate of Katheryne B. Willock, a archaeologist and contributor the University of Arizona library system. She died in January 2017.
