Pima County passes $1.2 billion budget for next fiscal year

Posted
Pima County has passed a $1.2 billion budget for the next fiscal year.

The county board of supervisors voted 3-2 Tuesday to approve the budget.

It includes a 10-cent decrease in the primary property tax rate and raises for county employees.

The percentage pay increase is greater for lower-paid employees and less for the highest.

Last year, the supervisors had raised the primary property tax rate 10 cents per $100 of assessed value.

The budget includes pay increases for all county employees ranging from 2 percent for the highest paid to 6 percent for the lowest beginning Aug. 21.

The approved pay increase is only the second raise county employees have received since before the recession eight years ago.
