Nine public pools in Pima County are set to open for the summer Saturday, May 26.

Pools and splash pads opening include:

  • Ajo Pool (E.S. "Bud" Walker Park)

  • Kino Pool (Mulcahy YMCA)

Those pools offer swim lessons to kids as young as six-months-old. Lessons cost $20 per swimmer and start June 4. Online registration is already open for the eight classes. Each class lasts two weeks.

The county also offers summer swim teams for kids five to 18. Those teams cost $20 for the whole summer.  Practices start May 29 and swim meets will be held on Saturdays during June and July.

Local pools are also offering lifeguard training for tweens and teens between 11 and 15-years-old. The course won't offer licenses or formal training but will prepare the participants for a lifeguard entry course.  The Junior Lifeguard Program costs $30 for the entire program.

All pools will stay open until local school districts resume classes.  Five pools will stay open until Labor Day weekend.
