PHOENIX (AP) - A Phoenix racetrack that faced a potentially decimating outbreak of an equine herpes virus is lifting a quarantine on horses.

Turf Paradise manager Vince Francia says the quarantine that banned horses coming and going onto the property was lifted Thursday.

However, all horses that enter must obtain a health certificate within 72 hours that shows proof of recent vaccination for the virus and other information.

Track officials are also mandating that all horse trailers be disinfected with each load.

Anyone responsible for a horse that does not conform to all the requirements can be ordered off the grounds.

Three horses from New Mexico arrived at the Phoenix facility last month following an outbreak at Sunland Park in New Mexico.

One tested positive for the virus and was euthanized.
