Phoenix police shot an armed suspect while responding to a report of domestic violence at a home on the city's northwest side.
The 45-year-old man was critically injured when two officers shot him at about 5 a.m. Saturday but he is expected to survive. He was being treated Sunday at a local hospital.
Police encountered the man when they responded to the domestic violence call at a home near 83rd Avenue and Campbell where a woman reportedly had been physically assaulted.
The officers forced their way into a bedroom where they heard a struggle and a woman crying. The officers say the suspect pointed a shotgun at the officers before they shot him.
His name has not been released.
