PHOENIX (AP) - Phoenix police say an officer fatally shot an armed suspect who allegedly pulled out a handgun and pointed it at the officer.
According to police, police were searching for suspects in a reported burglary of a convenience store and that the man who was shot was one of several people who were in a pickup spotted being driven with its lights out early Thursday.
Police say the shooting occurred when an officer caught up with one of several people who had been inside the pickup and who ran away when it ultimately stopped after police tried to pull it over.
No officers were injured and no identities were released.
Police say they're investigating whether the people in the pickup were linked to the store burglary where cigarettes were stolen.
