PHOENIX (AP) - Police have arrested a suspect accused of fatally stabbing a Phoenix man more than 80 times.

Sgt. Tommy Thompson said Friday it was unclear when 26-year-old Vamba Mamadee Donzo, who was taken into custody in Tucson, would be transported to Phoenix.

Donzo was booked Thursday into Pima County jail for escape and aggravated assault on an officer.

Authorities say he is expected to face additional charges including homicide.

Donzo is accused of killing 47-year-old Christopher Charles Mihaylo at the apartment complex where they both lived.

On Aug. 22, Mihaylo's family called police to do a welfare check.

They found Mihaylo on the floor in a pool of blood with multiple stab wounds.

Police say they recovered DNA evidence and a bloody knife.

It's unclear if Donzo has a lawyer yet.
