PD: Man breaks into pet business, kills two cats

Phoenix police are looking for a man who broke into a pet boarding and grooming business and allegedly killed two cats before tossing their bodies into a nearby dumpster.

The incident happened on Friday, March 4 during the early morning hours.

Police said the man cut a hole through an outside cat enclosure at Planet Petopia near 13th Avenue and Hatcher, removed two cats and stepped on them repeatedly, killing them.

Surveillance video shows the suspect tossing the two animals in a nearby dumpster before walking away.

Donald Erickson, who owns the business, tells KGUN 9 sister station ABC15 that the cats belonged to a Tucson man and were being boarded.

Police are offering up to a $1,000 reward for information that will lead officers to the person's identity and arrest.

Authorities do not have a description, except for what it seen in the video.
