Police in Phoenix have identified a man who was fatally run over by an SUV after he walked onto a busy street and laid down in one of the lanes.
They say 25-year-old Jadeem Mitchell was taken to a hospital Monday night and later pronounced dead.
Witnesses say Mitchell appeared to be intoxicated.
Police say the driver remained on scene and showed no signs of impairment.
They say the driver didn't immediately recognize a person was in the road and couldn't move out of the way in time.
