The city of Peoria has a new police chief.
City officials announced Wednesday that Art Miller has been selected for the job after a national search resulted in 55 applicants.
Miller was with the Los Angeles Police Department from 1978 to 2012 and held upper-level management and leadership roles in the department for 20 years.
For the past five years, Miller served as police chief in South Pasadena, California.
Miller is a graduate of the FBI National Academy and the U.S. Army West Point Leadership Program.
He's expected to start his job with Peoria on Sept. 5.
