PHOENIX (AP) - Seven people were able to escape their Phoenix home after a bystander noticed flames and knocked on their door to warn them.
Phoenix fire officials say someone knocked on the door early Monday morning after driving past the house and seeing the blaze. All seven residents and some pets managed to escape safely.
Phoenix Fire Capt. Mike Billingsley says the home did not have working smoke detectors and that without the good Samaritan the residents could have been seriously injured.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
