TUCSON, Ariz. — A month after Arizona Sen. Martha McSally revealed she had been raped by a senior officer while serving in the Air Force, the Pentagon is taking action.

Department of Defense says it will start a sexual assault accountability and investigation task force. That group will review how sexual assault cases are investigated, and how the military makes sure it doesn't happen again.

Acting Defense Secretary Patrick Shanahan said in a memo to the leadership of the U.S. military that after his "direct engagement" with McSally on the issue, he intends follow through with his commitment to examine sexual assault in the force.
