Pedestrian dies after being struck near I-10, victim identified

TUCSON, Ariz. — Tucson Police Traffic Detectives are investigating a pedestrian collision near Speedway Boulevard and Main Avenue.

Tucson Police have identified the victim as 37-Year-Old Brennan Thomas.

Thomas was taken to Banner University Medical Center where he later died.

Tucson Police and Tucson Fire were called out to the intersection of East Speedway Boulevard and North Main Avenue.

Detectives say "Thomas was walking southbound across Speedway on the eastside of the intersection hwne he was struck."

The driver of a Toyota 4-Runner was traveling eastbound on Speedway headed toward the intersection at Main.

Officials say speed was not a factor and the driver was impaired during the collision.

The investigation is ongoing. No charges or citations have been issued as of now.

Traffic was not affected.
