TUCSON, Ariz. — Officers responded to reports of a serious injury collision involving a pedestrian Wednesday night around 8:00 p.m.

According to TPD, the incident happened at the intersection of East Silverlake Road and South Euclid Avenue.

When firefighters arrived on scene, they began rendering aid to a male pedestrian.

The man was then transported to a local hospital and died a short time after.

After further investigation, officers learned the man was standing in the middle of the street and a witness to the collision was warning him to get out of the road, but the man refused.

"When the witness tried to physically help the pedestrian out of the road, the pedestrian became belligerent and shoved the witness away. The witness ran to the side of the road and observed the pedestrian get struck by a large delivery box truck," TPD said.

The driver of the truck remained on scene and cooperated with officers.

The pedestrian's identity has not been released.
