Pedestrian dies from injuries after collision on northwest side

TUCSON, Ariz. - Tucson Police Department and Tucson Fire Department responded to a serious-injury pedestrian collision near the northwest side on March 11, 2019.

TFD were called out to the 5100 block of North Oracle Road near the northwest side around 7:00 p.m.

The pedestrian was identified as 37-year-old Preston Jeffrey Wutzke.

Wutzke died on March 27 due to his injuries.

Officials say Wutzke was not impaired during the time of the collision.

His injuries were determined as non-life threatening. Wutzke was taken to Banner University Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

TPD says Wutzke was walking southbound on North Oracle Road north of River Road. Wutzke was in the road in the southbound lanes when the driver of a sliver Dodge Neon struck him on Oracle Road.

The driver did stay on scene.

Officials determined there were indications that the driver was impaired, and speed was not a factor.

No charges or citation have been made at this time. The investigation is ongoing.
